Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) / Terms and Guidelines

Q. What should I bring to class?
Full recommended gear list available here: What to Bring?

Q. What is the campsite like? Where will I sleep?
Axis Off Grid is… Off Grid.  🙂  Our campsites are primitive. Bring a tent or hammock, and prepare for an adventure.

Q. Are meals provided?
A. Students are responsible for providing their own food.  Water will be available on site, but we do recommend bringing a case of drinking water.  Keep your breakfast and lunches simple.  We encourage our students to prepare their meals together around the fire.  MREs, freeze dried, and dry goods are all good options.  There is no refrigeration.

Q. What physical condition do I need to be in?
A. Students should be in reasonably good physical condition. Our courses are not intended to challenge your athleticism, but participants should be able to hike two miles with a 10 pound pack.  Some exceptions apply to intro and basic classes.

Q. What are the age restrictions?
A. Age restrictions vary upon location.  Certain properties we operate on do not insure us to have youth.  We do require youth to be 10 years of age or older to participate in most courses.  Contact us before registering if you plan to bring your kids.

Q. Smoking, Alcohol, Drugs?
A. Smoking/Vaping is permitted as long as you step away from the group before lighting up.  Alcohol and drugs are prohibited.

Q. Are pets allowed?
A. Due to the nature of training, risk, insurance, and allergies, pets are not permitted.

Q. Are Firearms prohibited?
A. Firearms are not prohibited, but we do require you to have a concealed weapons permit along with firearms training.  Guns should remain concealed at all times.

Q. Are cameras allowed?
A. Still photos may be taken, but video is only allowed with “written” permission.  All photos taken at Axis Off Grid are subject to advertising purposes.

Q. Is there cell phone coverage?
A. Some people do have phone signal at base camp, but please move away from the group when calling or texting. Group campfire area should be an electronic-free zone.

Q. May Axis curriculum or handouts be reproduced?
A. All Axis Off Grid materials are for personal use only, and are not to be reproduced in any form, digital or print. Handouts and curriculum are subject to copyright laws, and violators will be prosecuted.
